School Trips Service learning abroad

School Groups Service Learning Abroad

We truly believe that ‘real’ learning happens outside the classroom. Our school volunteer trips take place across a number of spellbinding destinations including India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia and South Africa, so students can find a place and a purpose that most inspires them. Offering volunteering experiences with a difference, our carefully curated programs are here to give school students the unique opportunity to enhance their life and build deep, meaningful connections as they travel, explore and learn new skills.

Each experience is tailored and designed to change the way students think and change the way you view the world. Students groups could be doing anything from volunteering to teach English at schools in Kerala (South India), rebuilding schools in Nepal, community development or elephant program in Northern Thailand’s Surin to sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka. These are programs to suit a range of career paths, vocations and personal interests and students young age, gender, background, story or walk of life matters not to our team or our partners; all that we ask is that our school groups go forth with an open heart and open mind.

Culturally immersive, our volunteer programs will allow students to live, breathe, eat, sleep like a local, so they can really connect yourself to the local community and experience life in a different country. And we’re a sociable bunch here at Volunteering Journeys; we encourage community living and all of our school trip volunteer programs offer group leaders, shared or communal accommodation, and organised tours, so that our young first time travellers can learn about life in a different country, contribute to communities and have fun seeing the world.

We are currently offering students volunteering programs in teaching and education, animal and marine conservation or construction programs. We work closely with teachers, parents and students for pre-departure information and support. Our responsible tour leaders are experienced travellers themselves and look after students health and safety and coordinate arrangements on the programs. Each trip is customised and with a student group teachers can come for free!  All our school trips are suitable for students 14 years and over and will always have a Volunteering Journeys group leader from start to finish. To find out more about our different school trips programs be sure to request a Volunteering Journeys service learning brochure.

Background

VOLUNTEERING WITH A DIFFERENCE

“I chose to volunteer in Kolkata as I wanted to go into the deep end of volunteering. As the visitor books state, ‘˜you don’t see Calcutta, you feel it’. Every sense is alive, the smells range from spices, marigolds, incense, to smells not so pleasant, the colours are vibrant and the sound is mostly of constant talking. Calcutta is everything you expect of India and more’¦. I am involved in a couple of volunteering projects, one including menstrual health with a local organisation in slums of Topsia. Being involved in this program has been so eye opening and different from anything I’ve done in my life.”
