Teaching Volunteer in Vietnam

Make a real difference while immersing yourself in Vietnam’s vibrant culture through our Teaching Volunteer Program in Da Nang. This rewarding initiative gives you the opportunity to teach English and creative subjects to local children, helping them develop essential communication skills and confidence for a brighter future.

Based in the coastal city of Da Nang, our teaching placements are in kindergartens, primary schools, and special education centers that cater to more than 200 children between 6 to 11 years old. Volunteers assist teachers in creating fun, engaging, and interactive learning environments through lessons, games, songs, and creative activities — giving children a chance to practice English naturally and joyfully.

This program is ideal for anyone passionate about education, youth development, or cultural exchange. Whether you’re a gap-year student, an aspiring teacher, or simply someone who loves working with kids, your efforts will have a lasting impact on young learners who often have limited access to quality English education.

What You’ll Do as a Teaching Volunteer

As a Teaching Volunteer in Vietnam, you’ll support local teachers and lead small-group sessions focused on:

  • Basic English language (vocabulary, pronunciation, simple conversation)

  • Fun classroom activities such as singing, storytelling, sports, or art

  • Confidence building through games and interactive play

  • Special needs support, working with children who have intellectual developmental delays

No prior teaching experience is necessary — just good English communication skills and enthusiasm! Volunteers receive training and guidance upon arrival on how to prepare lesson plans, conduct classroom activities, and use creative teaching methods. Those with backgrounds in education, early childhood, or special education are especially encouraged to apply and share their expertise.

Volunteers typically work 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to participate in other social work or healthcare programs during free time.

Accommodation, Meals & Set Up

All volunteers stay at our Green House, a modern and comfortable volunteer home located just 5 km from central Da Nang. Each room is air-conditioned, has a private bathroom, and is shared with up to four same-gender volunteers.

Facilities include:

  • A modern kitchen and dining area

  • Wi-Fi and workstations for study or remote work

  • A living room and garden for relaxation

  • Laundry and cleaning facilities

  • A safe, quiet neighborhood within walking distance of shops and cafés

Three delicious home-cooked meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are provided from Monday morning to Saturday morning, prepared by our friendly local staff.

Accommodation is in shared rooms, with 2 to 4 people per room, giving you the chance to meet and connect with fellow participants from around the world. All rooms are clean, spacious, and air-conditioned, ensuring comfort after your hospital shifts or community work. Bathrooms are shared and fitted with Western-style toilets and showers.

The guest house offers several convenient facilities, including:

  • Daily housekeeping and laundry service

  • Wi-Fi access and common lounge areas to relax or study

  • Easy access to nearby cafés, local markets, and public transport

Our local team office is located close by, and staff are always available to assist you with anything you need during your stay — whether it’s arranging transport, planning weekend trips, or helping you settle in comfortably.

Rather than eating all meals at your accommodation, you’ll have the opportunity to dine locally — just as the Vietnamese do! Most volunteers enjoy their meals at the nearby food markets and street stalls, where you can find authentic, freshly cooked dishes at affordable prices.

Enjoy delicious local favorites such as pho (noodle soup), banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), rice bowls, stir-fries, and an array of vegetarian options. This approach not only supports the local economy but also lets you immerse yourself in Vietnam’s incredible food culture — a highlight for most visitors!
