Engineering Internship In Nepal

Our Engineering Internship in Nepal offers aspiring engineers, architecture students, and sustainability enthusiasts the opportunity to gain hands-on, practical experience while contributing to meaningful community development. Based in and around Kathmandu, this program focuses on sustainable construction, infrastructure design, and post-earthquake rebuilding — helping rural communities create safer, stronger, and more resilient environments.

Nepal is a country of incredible beauty and immense challenges. After the 2015 earthquake, rebuilding efforts have been slow, particularly in remote villages where resources are limited. As an intern, you’ll work alongside local engineers, construction experts, and NGOs to assist in designing and implementing essential infrastructure projects. From earthquake-resistant housing and community centers to eco-friendly drainage systems and water management solutions, you’ll be part of practical, real-world solutions that have lasting impact.

Whether you’re a civil, structural, environmental, or architectural engineering student, this placement provides a chance to apply classroom learning in the field, develop your professional skills, and make a tangible difference in people’s lives — all while experiencing Nepal’s incredible landscapes and culture.

Why Join This Program

  • Supporting design projects – preparing drawings, cost estimates, and engineering plans using software like AutoCAD or SketchUp.

  • Working on infrastructure planning – contributing to drainage systems, road layouts, or small-scale renewable energy solutions.

  • Participating in environmental assessments – learning about Nepal’s terrain, soil types, and eco-sensitive construction methods.

  • Contributing to post-earthquake reconstruction efforts – helping local teams reinforce buildings with earthquake-resistant techniques.

  • Collaborating with Nepali engineers and students – exchanging ideas, sharing knowledge, and gaining cultural and professional insights.

You’ll be supervised by an experienced local mentor or project manager, ensuring that your work aligns with safety standards and local construction regulations.

Internship in Nepal Program Location

Most of our Nepal programs are based around Kathmandu or Kathmandu valley

Nepal has captured the imagination of travelers for centuries, with its impossibly large mountains, serene monasteries, and beautiful cultural heritage. It is an increasingly popular destination for backpackers, adventurers, and other wanderers, who come hoping to absorb some of the spirituality the country is known for. With one-third of the population who live under the poverty line, it is one of the least developed nations in Asia. Nepal allows travelers to give back to the country, taking their trip beyond personal spiritual enrichment and into practical, useful, and productive support.
